DRAGONS BELT RANKING AND REQUIREMENTS

Dragons in a grawl drill

For our students ages 4 through 8.
50 minute classes twice a week.
Classes continue to focus on lifeskills and basic martial arts techniques. More emphasis on excellent technique.
Dragons are not expected to memorize lessons for the stripe and belt tests.

The main difference between Dragons classes (ages 4 – 8) and the others offered at this school is the fact that Dragons are NOT required to memorize self defense lessons and hand forms. They are taught many techniques (AKA kicks and strikes) and learn proper foot work, yelling during striking and correct body position. They are also shown “Dragon Defense Techniques” which are short self defense lessons but they are not required to memorize them for their Stripe or Belt tests. We work with them to attain increased focus, concentration, respect, and discipline.

Dragon’s must earn four Stripes to move to the next belt, the first three stripes are black and the last one is red. Each of these stripes are tested for every four weeks. Dragons also have a separate belt color system. When the Dragon student earns their ORANGE/WHITE belt they are eligible to wear a Black uniform and are referred to as Eagle students. Eagles come to the same class but are also shown more advanced techniques.

At some point during this progression (usually around 8 years of age) the Dragon / Eagle student will be moved to the Tiger’s class where they will have to train for a minimum of six months before they will be allowed to move to the Advanced Tigers class. During this time they may still be moving up in rank with the same belt system as Dragon’s in order to give them enough time to get used to the extra requirements involved with being in Tigers class. This is done so that no students starts Advanced Class at higher than Blue Belt rank
ALL DRAGON AND TIGER STUDENTS MUST HAVE AN “INTENT TO PROMOTE” FORM SIGNED BY PARENTS AND TEACHER TO BE PROMOTED TO NEXT BELT
This is a form by which we make sure our students are trying hard at school and being respectful at home and in class. This is one of the main goals we have for our students here at American Tiger Martial Arts
